This morning our orchestra played a Patriotic concert at a veteran's home. Afterwards I was talking with one of the older men there, an Army veteran who lost an eye and a leg in Europe during World War II. I thanked him for his service, and his response really impressed me:
"Oh, you're welcome. I'd do it again if I were younger."

That makes me want to cry.
Our troops and their families sacrifice so much for our freedoms. Most of the time they don't even get a 'thank you.'
My grandpa served in WWII and my uncle leaves in two weeks for his tour of duty in Iraq. I owe so much these men and those who serve alongside them. They give up so much so I don't have to.
The least I can do is say "Thank You!"
It's hard to comprehend that kind of willing sacrifice.
