...when you can't think of what to post, write an update!
I love playing with the CYS, though it's hard work and occasionally stressful. It's only two weeks till our next concert (you're invited!) and I have much work to do between now and then. We are playing some wonderful music, though. AND we get to do the Vaughan Williams Five Variants on Dives and Lazarus again, as a side-by-side with a local youth orchestra. It's an absolutly lovely piece, and I really do enjoy getting dressed up in black and playing concerts. (Just so you know, the program for Feb. 22 has changed a bit since the above link was posted--we aren't doing Skolkattas or Schubert and we are doing a bunch of Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes.)
Music tends to fill my days. If it's not actual practice than it's the thought that I probably should be practicing, or I'm listening to something. Looking forward to working up and giving a piano recital with a good friend sometime this summer...it's going to be great. (Mild understatement there.)
And I'm actually making progress in the sewing world! Wonder of wonders. I need (well, maybe it's not an actual need) a new concert black top for our upcoming concerts, and I'm still trying out the pattern I'm going to use. Purple wale-less stretch courderoy shirt currently in the works (I put together my fabric-covered buttons tonight) and I think it's going to turn out nicely.
Living History is coming up again. I need to pull out my music and set something up for us musicians to do. Also have a drama to edit (which will lead to lines to learn). My sisters and some of their friends are working on costumes, and I'm thinking about doing something more for myself. Trying to decide if I want to go period-correct and make stays (which would necessitate a new costume, at least in part). I didn't think I would, but it's getting more and more tempting...
And my books are keeping my busy whenever everything else isn't. I'm doing some reading for LH, trying to get a better grasp of the time period and such. I also have a line-up of fictional books; just started Safely Home by Randy Alcorn this afternoon. It's already quite engaging and I'm only about 3 chapters in.
So that's pretty much my life these days--books, music, sewing, friends. :) God is good.
Till next time,
Rachel :)
