Hymn for the Week

Well, I have Jesus, Lover of my Soul mostly memorized...the kind of memorized where I could write it out correctly, but actually singing all the right words in the right order without any pauses is a bit more difficult. The words are so good, though! I could use another week or so to really solidify it (what about the rest of you?), but I'm going to work on another hymn and review the old one at the same time. We'll see how it goes!

The hymn for this week is Immortal, Invisible. Our orchestra is also working on this song--that's what sparked my interest in it. I'll be memorizing the typical hymnal verses. Here's the Cyber Hymnal link if you want to see all of the original verses.

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish—but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All praise we would render; O help us to see
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!
