Thanksgiving

When we were little, one of our main preparations for Thanksgiving consisted in putting up a large posterboard turkey and cutting a number of "feathers" out of colored construction paper. Every day, each of us would put up another feather listing something that we were thankful for. Often, by Thanksgiving the turkey had taken on a shape of its own as feathers in all colors piled upon each other in a manner unknown to any true turkey. :) We haven't made our turkey for a number of years now, but I wanted to list a few of my Thanksgivings from this year.

Family: They make me laugh and keep me somewhat steady. I love my family. I'm grateful too for my grandma and the immense number of aunts, uncles, and cousins that I've been blessed with.

Music: Playing the piano, singing and playing with friends, listening to great music. What would I do without it?

Good Books: So many already read, so many yet to read...

Libraries! Especially interlibrary loan systems and quiet nooks.

Friends: I have realized more than once this year how very blessed I am to have so many friends. I thank God for all of you.

The outdoors: The majesty and grandeur of the mountains, the wide-open windswept prairie, the vast waters of the Great Lakes, the many colors of autumn, a full moon casting stark shadows on snow-covered ground. God's creation is beautiful.

God's Faithfulness: There have been many times when I have questioned Him, but God is faithful and He is good. I am blessed.

Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul;
Thank You, Lord, for making me whole.
Thank You, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.
