Links and Such

or, Rachel Tries to get Caught Up in Posting.

I've been meaning to post for well over a week...really. I just kept on not getting around to asking Sarah about using one of her pics. :) The longer I wait the more things pop up to tell you about, so here goes...random notes on life for the past three weeks.

If you visit either Sarah's or Kristin's blogs you probably already know that we girls took a trip to NE the first week of January. It was a very fun time...including but not limited to freezing cold, lots of chocolate, books, shopping, coffee, tea, ice skating, and talking. Sarah's pictures are here, and Kristin's pictorial narrative of the week here.

Of course we went book shopping, and I found a few treasures (including When We Were Very Young by A. A. Milne, in a nice old hardbound edition). While we're on the topic of books, I'm going to try to post a lot more book reviews this year. Though if you get on Goodreads, you can see what I've been reading and my thoughts thereon. :) (To find me there, you'll need to create an account, and then search for me using my alternate e-mail...if you don't know or can't guess what that is, let me know.)

Last night we had an airport party for a friend who was coming back from Haiti. Sarah has more on that here. Good times...

One of my best friends is getting married in May. This is interesting, folks. Really interesting. Being in love really does do something to you. :) I'm happy for her, and it's really rather fun to be in on the whole wedding planning stage of things. Though I have been reminded of this snippet that I found in Sense and Sensibility:

"...for though a very few hours spent in the hard labor of incessant talking will dispatch more subjects than can really be in common between any two rational creatures, yet with lovers it is different. Between them no subject is finished, no communication is even made, till it has been made at least twenty times over." Jane Austen

Good News Club is going well. I love it--it's so good to have the chance to love and pray for and be with these kids, most of whom are from broken homes. We have lots of fun together--maybe a little too much fun sometimes. David, who has recently re-discovered his blog, has some pictures up.

CYS is gearing up for the next concert set (Feb. 28 and March 7, I think). We're doing the Mozart 4th violin concerto, Schubert quartet #14 (Death and the Maiden), and a Mozart Adagio and Fugue. It should be a very cool concert. The Schubert is great. I need to practice. :D Though I'm back in the second violins again...the music isn't quite as difficult, so I have a fighting chance at having it learned really well by concert time.

Teaching goes on--which reminds me. I need to teach my sisters this afternoon. Hmm. Guess that goes next on the list. :D We're all getting back into practicing and such, and starting to think about the spring recital.

I think that's all for now. I'm going to go teach those lessons. :) God bless you today!

Till later,
Rachel
