But that won't make it go away.
It hit me last week that perhaps I should apply some of those life lessons we talk about during Living History Day. Before the actual day, we musicians discuss the current events of the period we're putting ourselves into, talk about the spiritual/emotional effects they would have on people, and try to communicate them in our program:
"We never know when the Indians may attack, but it won't do us any good to hide in our cellars waiting for it..."
As true now as it was back then. No, it doesn't generally work to hide from change, from the things you fear. Can't waste our lives waiting in hiding for evil to happen. But it also doesn't do any good to seek out bad news, construct worst-case scenario after worst-case scenario in your mind. Yes, we might know it's coming. Yes, we might need to prepare. We certainly need to pray. But we can also go on with life, enjoying what God has given now and trusting Him for the future.
"As you may have noticed, times are uncertain. We never know where we'll be tomorrow, next week, next month...it's a good reminder to trust God, to make sure that we really know Him.""
Do we ever know what the future holds? It's just that more visible uncertainties remind us (forcibly at times) that we truly don't know. But God does, and He will not change--ever. No matter what happens. Truly, a strong incentive to seek our security in God.
Just so ya know, I don't have this down by any means. It's just something that I have been thinking on lately. :)
"Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution,
or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Just as it is written,
'For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer
through Him who loved us."
Romans 8:35-37

Hey, things aren't so bad as the may seem. On Friday, it was like riding on a roller coaster to watch the stock market. First it dropped 700 points, and the stock traders in the pictures looked like they were NASA scientists who were ten hours late for the launch on national TV. Then it went up 900 points - or 200 above where it started - WHEEEEEE!!!!!! (that was at about 3:00 PM mountain time). Then it came back down and stopped at about 67 points below where it started. HA HA. So it ain't so bad after all (at least compared to the last couple weeks). I mean, we could all be NASA scientist two hours late for a launch on national TV.
It could be worse.
LOL :)
And the above, my friends, is why brothers are good things to have around...
