Setting out...

And they're off! I didn't join the expedition,
but report has it that she sailed quite well--downwind. :)

Unfortunately the balance of the "viking ship" (so called because of her square sail) did not prove battleworthy and she went over as a crew member attempted to take oars from a hijacker. Later, as Hannah and I wrung out the sodden sail, we came up with a more official if less warlike name: the U.S.S. Comforter. :) Good work on your boat, guys!

U.S.S. Comforter.. Now that is a good name!
Thanks for posting, I had heard the story about the ship, but I had no clue that the ship looked as such..
Poor volleyball poles..
It was one of those ideas that just kind of hand around and nag. You can’t get rid of it until it is been done. I sure was fun, even if we did have to cut the rigging to save the ship. I suppose that I should learn my lesson about rescuing people who don’t need rescuing... Arr... Perhaps I’ll just have to wait until Joe’s boat is done to get my sailing fix.
Hmmm... very creative. Could this be a newly invented sport- similar in oddity to ice surfing, perhaps? ;)
