Bits and Pieces
Friday, July 1 The weather around here is quite variable. There have been some beautiful days, some rainy days, and some very humid days (known by the fact that my curled hair goes straightish and my wispies get random and frizzy). It hasn’t gotten terribly hot yet but tomorrow’s supposed to be 90ish. Shannon and I have learned to carry umbrellas on a regular basis because you just don’t know when it might rain.
Yesterday I was out of our apartment from 6:40 AM till around 10 PM. Usually we’re back for quiet time, but yesterday was different…and it was a long day. I begin to feel like a turtle, carrying my home on my back. I wish I could find a scale around on which to weigh my backpack. My shoulders must be getting stronger. :/
Saturday, July 2 Well…the weather certainly is variable. Extremely hot today, but sunny and looking good for tonight’s concert outdoors. Well, between 6 and 6:30 a huge thunderstorm moved in. The concert was moved indoors and they ended up doing two, because of the crowd size, and the fireworks are postponed till tomorrow (apparently they usually do them the night of the concert, not necessarily on the 4th). There were some pretty amazing clouds tonight. The concert was a lot of fun; they played a bunch of music that I recognized from our July concerts.
The classical concerts this weekend were great. They played Scheherazade and some horn music on Thursday night and the Tchaikovsky violin concerto and Pictures at an Exhibition last night (with a few other pieces thrown in for good measure). The orchestra quality is really good. Not quite CSO level on everything, but they do sound pretty professional. The violinist who did the Tchaikovsky is the concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra and he was just amazing.
Well, I shall write about the food and other interesting things another day; it’s bedtime now. :P Oh yes—one more thing. There’s a group in town called The Remnant Trust; they have a bunch of really old books (check out the gallery) AND WE GET TO GO SEE THEM TOMORROW!! Goodnight.
