Hymn for the Week

I either forgot to print the word to May The Mind of Christ before we left for Canada or I printed them and forgot to bring them--I'm not sure which. The result is the same, namely that I could only remember about four verses while we were on the road. :) I think I have rectified that problem and can properly say all the verses now. Such a good song--if I had to choose a list of favorite hymns I think this would be one of them.

For this week I would like to work on O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go. I can't remember when I was first introduced to this song--it may have been when I sang in a choir at a homeschool conference when I was 15 or so. I've liked it for a long time. Here is the Cyber Hymnal link; it is worth checking for the story behind the hymn.

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
