Viking Quest

"This is the best series I've ever read!" --Sarah

"These are good. I've recommended them to a number of people already." --Rachel

"They're pretty good! I enjoyed them. I'm on my second time through them." --Rebecca

I was organizing books for a friend, labeling and putting away new books, when something caught my eye. Covers with an Irish-looking design, interesting time period...I had to investigate. I ended up reading the five-book series between Friday night and the following Monday night. Sarah beat me and read them in two days, and both of us promptly read the series start-to-finish for a second time. They're keepers!

The Viking Quest series by Lois Walfrid Johnson is set in Ireland, Norway and the Northern Atlantic in the 10th century AD. We follow the story of Devin, Briana and their Irish family. When the young Viking raider Mikkel changes their lives forever, they must learn to forgive, to trust God, and to seek the courage to win no matter where they are. One thing I especially enjoyed was the historical information woven into the story. It's a time period that we hear virtually nothing about and it was really fascinating to hear a bit more about Ireland and the land of the Vikings during the Middle Ages. More importantly, I appreciated the realistic characters and the emphasis on family relationships, trust in God, forgiveness and keeping promises.

The book titles in order are Raiders from the Sea, Mystery of the Silver Coins, The Invisible Friend, Heart of Courage, and The Raider's Promise. Look 'em up at the library...I have them all now but maybe you can get them after me. :) Recommended and if you read them let me know what you think!
