I hereby do declare that it's time for a Random Update post. :) Here you go!
This year is almost over. I for one find that rather hard to believe. But then, this has been a very long year for me and my times of year (not to mention months and days of the week) still get mixed up on occasion. (Oh yes...it's not spring, Rachel.)
Currently Reading: The Shaping of a Christian Family by E. Elliot. Can you believe it? I'm only reading one book right now! Well, I guess you could include Little Women, which I'm still reading to my sisters. We're at the part where Amy and Laurie meet in Europe.
Recently Finished: In My Father's House by Corrie Ten Boom (her autobiographical book of the years before The Hiding Place), Cries of the Heart by Ravi Zacharias, several assorted children's books. (Dark House on the Moss, The Wide Horizon, Derwood Inc., A Dangerous Game, the Kathleen: A Life of Faith series, etc--ask if you want details, since I'm not planning to review all of them. :)
Want to Read: John Adams by David McCullough, The Grand Weaver by Ravi Zacharias, assorted C. S. Lewis and Deitrich Bonhoeffer books (you'd never guess who two of my favorite authors for this year have been!), books about Bonhoeffer by his friend Eberhard Bethge. More children's books.
I've been trying to get a denim jumper made up for myself for a couple of weeks now. I have the fabric ready and the pattern out! Other than that...I hope to find time soon. I also need to make a fleece liner for my Colonial cloak. (Being period-correct only goes so far.)
Good News Club is going really well! 10 kids from the school in regular attendance at the moment. One little boy accepted Jesus as his Savior today. Praise the Lord. Christmas party club next week, then Christmas break.
Currently Playing: lots of classical and Christmas background-style music. I'm preparing to play for a banquet at a nursing home on Thursday. When that's over, I shall be working on Bach, Chopin, and the wonderful Grieg concerto. The last is a dream of several years, finally coming to pass--I guess I can't honestly say that dreams never come true. Actually performing it may not happen, but just playing it is a joy.
Violin has kind of been out the window for this semester, but I should get back into it. (My teacher would emphatically agree with me here.) Might audition for a local group in the spring.
Good News Orchestra concerts next week and the week after. Dress rehearsal with sectionals tomorrow. I'm doing the violins...suppose I ought to look over things and make a decision on what needs worked on. Yes, that would be a good idea.
Well, I need to go 1) practice piano, 2) get things together for my sectional tomorrow, or 3) do something else (like clean the kitchen)? Farewell! May your Christmas be blessed.
