Granny's house was silent,
silent as a tomb.

...but it's not as bad as it sounds, thanks to Granny's helpful grandchildren. Too Quiet for These Old Bones by Tres Seymour, illustrated by Paul Brett Johnson, is another favorite children's book around here. I was out of town when my family discovered it. They gave me tantalizing tidbits (what in the world is a Granny scream?!) but I had to wait to come home and find it at the library myself, though, to learn the whole story, and it is a hoot. It tells of four children and their grandmother...and to find out more you'll just have to get the book yourselves. Enjoy! :)silent as a tomb.

"These old bones are tired! she cried.
"This house is far too quiet!
I crave a bang, a boom, a blast!
An avalanche! A riot!"
